Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein and it is on the swiss border right on the Rhine river. On the hill outside the city, there is a castle that dates go back to the 12th century. It is one of the most unique places to visit in Europe. At the heart of the city center is the best museum in Europe and it displays modern and ancient art. The national museum nearby houses some of the exceptional art in Europe as it incorporates cultural and archeological artifacts of medieval times.

The city radiates in diversity and it is a favorite location to many people across the world. The crime rate in the city is so low that people do not lock their front doors. The city is mostly German-speaking but you will find people who will guide you throughout the city. The city is influenced by Bavarian, Austrian, and Swiss culture. No matter the time that you are visiting the city you are sure to enjoy some of the exceptional places in the area.

How to Get to Vaduz, Liechtenstein

There are different avenues that you can get to Vaduz. You can get in by bus and the buses run every 15 minutes from the train station at Buchs. You can purchase your tickets online or at the station. On the other hand, if you are choosing to get in via using a train there is a train station where you can arrive at the destination.

However, it is critical that you check the timetable to find when the train will be leaving the area and when it is expected to arrive. If you choose to use air to arrive at the destination then you should know that you are going to use Zurich international airport. When you get to the station you will easily reach Vaduz to via any means that you like.

Explore Liechtenstein Center

This center is found in the main pedestrian zone in the city. You can easily spot it and you can explore what the center has to offer to tourists. At the tourist office in the modern building you can pick up a map of the city and this will make your travel easy as you have all the information that you need to get around.

There are souvenirs here too and you can buy one to take to your country as a reminder of the beautiful city of Vaduz. One of the major attractions is the thrown and crown where you can take pictures as if you are a reigning monarch. Visitors use the props to take pictures.

Hop on the City Train

The city train is one of the ways that you can explore and understand the city more. The train has both German and English narration of the main sites.

This is the perfect way that you can explore the city and get to know more about it. This feature is ideal for people with kids because you will get around easily without worrying about the kids getting tired.

Besides, you will explore the city in less than a half-hour that would have otherwise taken 3 hours.

Das Städtle

This is an important location as it is the epicenter of all activities in Vaduz. A town center is a major place of interest because it acts as a major connection to all attractions in the city. The name Städtle means a small town.

From the small town, you can get to enjoy some of the unique art pieces and historical collections in boutiques, restaurants, cafes among others. Besides, it also has a nice view of Vaduz vaster. Visit the Red House

The red house is one of the most exceptional structures that you can visit in the region. It is a large tower that contains living quarters and it is located in the heart of the city.  The red house was named so because of the dark red color of the building that has stayed the same since the 19th century. Explore Liechtenstein Vineyards

The winery is 10 minutes away from Vaduz center and you do not have to worry about going far because this location is just a walking distance.

Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein

The Liechtenstein museum of fine arts is a state-of-the-art museum with modern and contemporary art in Vaduz. You will never miss something amazing to explore in this museum. The building was created by architects Christian Kerez, Heinrich Degelo, and Meinrad Morger.

It has a collection that covers work from the 18th, 19th century, and modern-day art. You will learn a lot about the history of the people in this region as well as the growth of modern art and history.

Vaduz Castle is one of the most outstanding features of the city and it is visible from the city center. It is the current home of the royal family of the ruler of Liechtenstein that sits 120 meters above Vaduz and it has been in this location for the past 700 years.

It is a unique structure because it incorporates neo-gothic architecture coupled with modernity. Did you know that the royal family still lives in this castle? It is imperative to note that it is not open to the public but you can ascend the hill and stroll around the perimeters and get a view of the city from the top.

In Liechtenstein, you can find a very entertaining hiking trail that goes through all Liechtenstein and is 75 kilometers long.

It is a perfect hiking trail for the whole weekend, it is possible to do it all in 3 days and while doing it you will visit all 11 Liechtenstein municipalities.
