Murren Hike Impressions – Why I Loved It?
Once you have exited the Grütschalp cable car you can cross the train tracks thereafter follow the yellow/brown lines which indicate mountain view trail. This will take you up the mountain forest. It is a bit tough to climb for the first 1.5 kilometers after that the elevation is more gradual and you will find it easy to hike. On a cloudless day, you can enjoy the view of the mountains at the Allmendhubel Flower Park.
You can ride down the Allmendhubel funicular to Mürren. Alternatively, you can choose to hike down enjoying the fading light.
Numerous trails are leading down to Mürren which included paved roads. Besides, you can stay on the footpaths that lead through the forest to the south.
The trail encompasses everything from stunning mountain views, chalets and hamlets tucked away in the middle of the rising mountains. The flower-filled alpine meadows is an exciting location for your kids because it is filled with pastures and cows grazing. Many people choose to begin their hike at the Schilthorn Cableway and walk the loop clockwise finishing the trail at the Allmendhubel funicular.
Besides you can trail counterclockwise ending at the Schilthorn Cableway. This will make the walk slightly easier because the funicular will eliminate a small amount of elevation gain.
Sprutz waterfall is a beautiful and exquisite waterfall tucked away in the forest. You can walk behind it even at midday in July. To get to this location it will take you around 15 minutes of walking one way as you trail through the forest, you will see a sign indicating Sprutz waterfall.
If you have the energy and you want to enjoy hiking in Switzerland then this is the right place. You will walk through the gorgeous valley past small farms with rustic barns and many cows grazing in the fields.
From the valley, there is a short steep climb but once you are at the top the views are quite incredible. You can look down at the valley that you have walked through and the amazing mountains across the divide.
Things to Know Before You Go to Mountain View Trail
It is imperative to note that if you want to go hiking in the mountains you should wear a good pair of walking shoes. Hiking shoes are great but a pair of running or sturdy walking shoes can do the trick. As long as the shoes can handle traction effectively then you are good to go. If it has rained recently the area could be muddy and you need shoes that will prevent any kind of slipping.
You can take your dinner or lunch at the hotels in the area. They offer cozy indoor seating with spectacular views of the alps. As well, you can sit any resting area or if the weather is good, in the Swiss Alps meadows and have your lunch 🙂 It’s a beautiful place to do it.
Do not forget water, some food, and anything else you may need. I would take something for rain protection, you never know if it will start to rain up there and it would be great to be safe from it.
